The best summary I’ve seen on the emails and data that was hacked (i.e. stolen) from the AGW is by The Devil’s Kitchen. Go read it.

Paul Mirengoff has an article on the Washington Examiner called Why Does He Hate Us? Read it now. 20 Years from now I believe that we’ll look back and rank President Obama as one of the worse president’s in the history of the United States.

The Main Stream Media (MSM) seems to be tripping over themselves in order to not paint the shooter, Nidal Hasan, in a negative light. Don’t want to offend the Muslim community don’t cha know.

Mark Steyn has a good piece on the shooting, and Hasan. I’m not taking his bet.

Dede Scozzafava, after backing out of the District 23 race in New York, has opted to back the Democratic candidate Bill Owens instead of Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman.

Scozzafava was the GOP choice, even though she had a left leaning platform. When she stepped aside the GOP platform shifted their support to Hoffman, but Scozzafava went with her heart and is backing Owens.

The GOP got themselves into this mess by backing Scozzafava to begin with. Not all Republicans were backing her and some were backing Hoffman from the start. But in one of those ways the GOP likes to shoot themselves in the foot it went with a weak candidate whom they believed had a better chance of being elected then with the more principled candidate.

Scozzafava fits in better with the Democratic party and I hope she leaves the Republicans and joins them. She could take my Senators, Snowe and Collins, with her too.

Here are my thoughts on some of the major questions for citizens of Maine this November 3.

Question 1: People’s Veto (Gay Marriage)

Twice the people of Maine have voted down gay marriage, but the Democratic legislatures and governor didn’t like that so passed a law anyways. This is a citizen’s veto to repeal the law. On principle I’m voting yes on this because the people of Maine have spoken more than once on this issue. Second, Maine has a domestic partner law that already covers much in this area. Finally for me as a Catholic marriage is a religious insitution. Put forth a civil union for gays and I would support it but marriage, no way.

Question 2: Citizen’s Initiative (Excise Tax)

I’m all for lowering taxes, and our vehicle excise taxes are already high. I might be willing to support this initiative if it didn’t exclude hybrid or other alternative energy vehicles. The excise tax is suppose to go towards the maintenance of roads, last I checked hybrids still use roads and cause wear and tear on them.Just lower the tax for all with no exemptions and you got my vote, ut as is I’m voting no.

Question 4: Citizen’s Initiative (TABOR)

Limit government growth to population growth and inflation? Got my vote.

The Democrats have released their health care bill and since I haven’t had the time to dig into the details of it, lets look at this initial statistic:

1994 Clinton Health Care Plan: 1342 pages

2009 Pelosi Health Care Plan: 1990

That is not a sign of being off to a good start. Second sign is the Democrats blocking access to the press conference announcing the bill. So much for transparency in government. The Democrats want to keep this bill under wraps as long as possible and attempt to shive it down our throats before get a good idea of what is being done to them.

Being from a state with two Republican Senators, I should have high hopes of them putting up a fight, but my Senators our Snowe and Collins…

Again, my simple solution to health care in this country starts at home:

  1. Eat the right foods
  2. Exercise
  3. Get plenty of sleep

Sounds too much like personal responsibility, something the Democrats won’t tolerate.

As many of you know, Rush Limbaugh was denied a bid to become a part owner of a NFL football team. Reading and hearing the attacks that came out against Rush it was truly a great example of what the liberals in this country have to offer: lies.

To be fair, some of the statements that the left attributed to Rush were not lies, but taken out of context Looking at 10 words that someone says without looking at the 200 he said leading up to those 10 can lead to a misunderstanding. But the lies, and spread by the main stream media such as CNN were a good (or is it bad?) example of what the “fourth pillar of government” has become. Fact checking is too much to ask for I guess asking factcheck.org to do a little checking is asking too much.

What in the end makes this funnier is some of the people allowed to represent the NFL or comment upon the NFL. Keith Olberman is one of the biggest racist out there but is the NFL worries about the imagine he brings to the NFL? Convicted felon Michael Vick? No worries again? Any of the players busted for doing drugs, dealing drugs, shooting people, etc? No again, not an issue for the NFL. Only issue is being a conservative.

Today’s Day By Day cartoon hits the right notes for me on my take on the current political situation.

Are summed up by this cartoon on National Review.

Why did President Obama win?

  1. Another anti-Bush prize (see Gore and Carter)
  2. The Euroasses want to make sure we have a chicken for president

Former President Carter decided to weigh in with his opinion on Representative Joe Wilson’s outburst during President Obama health care speech. First a note to Rep. Wilson: There is a proper time and place to point out a layer, that wasn’t the time or place. Carter let it be known that Rep. Wilson’s comments were “based on racism”.

Ah yes, seeing this again. Disagree with President Obama and be prepared to be labeled a racist, a terrorist, or both.  I’ve seen this way to often, disapprove of the and prepare for the onslaught. Gotta love a well reasoned debate.

The left is also having a hard time dealing with the fascist label, mainly due to their own ignorance on what Fascism means. If your mind jumps right away to killing Jews then you don’t understand Fascism. Fascism is a left leaning socialist agenda, why do you think the Nazi’s called themselves Socialists? I would suggest people read Jonah Goldberg’s book “Liberal Fascism” to help expand their knowledge in this area.
