If you haven’t heard, over a dozen high school football payers from Oregon were sent to the emergency room. Looking at the situation the cause is pretty obvious, the coach is a moron and should be fired. Why do I say that? Take a look at how the kids were training:

“The players cycled through 30 seconds each of chair dips and push-ups, then repeated, decreasing the time of each cycle until they reached five-second intervals, then stopping to spot a partner. It was unclear how many times the cycle was repeated, although players said that by the end of the drill, which lasted longer than 20 minutes, their sweat had pooled into small puddles on the ground.

If a player wasn’t working hard enough, or was slacking off, everyone would have to reset and do the exercises again, Cordie said. Players got no water until after the workouts. No one was allowed to leave until everyone was done, he said. “

Now this was done in a  room that was at a temperature of around 115 degrees. This is just a giant recipe for disaster, which could have ended in the death of some of the kids. A coach (Kearin in this case) doing something like this with all the knowledge we have on proper training is inexcusable.

What is even worse is some of the school officials trying to point the finger at creatine monohydrate, a safe supplement. The reason for this was the presence of creatine in the blood work of the students. Well duh, when talking about rhabdomyolysis or compartment syndrome this should be expected.

Darrelle Revis of the New York Jets has so far failed to report to camp? Why you may ask? the usual reason: Greed.

Revis wants to be the highest paid cornerback in the NFL. Nothing wrong with that but what is wrong is failing to honor your contract. Revis is under contract with the Jets and wants a new one. Players do this often and I think it is wrong in all cases to not honor your contract. You can ask for it to be re-done but if the club says no then honor the contract and move on after it expires.

This year’s NFL draft is done and in my opinion, and many others, the Seattle Seahawks did well. Picked up a much needed tackle in  Russell Okung and help in their secondary with the selection of Earl Thomas. Seattle had many areas that needed addressing and Pete Carroll and company did a great job of filling those needs.

Even int he later rounds they got some good picks. Golden Tate gives them some help in the receiving corps, and more defensive picks in later rounds. Add in some trades for running backs and the only area they really didn’t address was a quarterback of the future. If Matt Hasselbeck stays healthy, which Okung should help in making sure he does, then this may not have needed addressing in the draft.

Looking forward to the start of the season, go Seahawks!

As many of you know, Rush Limbaugh was denied a bid to become a part owner of a NFL football team. Reading and hearing the attacks that came out against Rush it was truly a great example of what the liberals in this country have to offer: lies.

To be fair, some of the statements that the left attributed to Rush were not lies, but taken out of context Looking at 10 words that someone says without looking at the 200 he said leading up to those 10 can lead to a misunderstanding. But the lies, and spread by the main stream media such as CNN were a good (or is it bad?) example of what the “fourth pillar of government” has become. Fact checking is too much to ask for I guess asking factcheck.org to do a little checking is asking too much.

What in the end makes this funnier is some of the people allowed to represent the NFL or comment upon the NFL. Keith Olberman is one of the biggest racist out there but is the NFL worries about the imagine he brings to the NFL? Convicted felon Michael Vick? No worries again? Any of the players busted for doing drugs, dealing drugs, shooting people, etc? No again, not an issue for the NFL. Only issue is being a conservative.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, can make some really stupid comments at times. Really dumb. His latest regarding the video screens at the new Cowboys stadium is one that shows his ignorance:

“You can anticipate the ball hitting the board from time to time,” he said. “There’s no reason why this can’t be something (for punters) to deal with very similar to the way you’d deal with the wind in your face or with elements; rain, sleet or snow.”

Um Jerry, those are natural occurring things. A team can’t stop the wind, rain, snow. If a team comes up with a way to do this then they have a great future at renting out these skills. But a video screen hanging too low in a stadium? Sorry, that is something under a team’s control.
